Cielito Zamora Senior High School teacher volunteers to be one of the people who cooperated in the global Manila Bay cleanup in this month of September to make the trees trash free.
Mrs. Gina Conopio offered herself to have a reach out activity on September 22, 2018 at the Baywalk, Roxas Boulevard headed by the International Coastal Cleanup which provides the opportunity to make a difference in a global movement and by
getting rid of trash or debris form out shorelines, lakes, rivers; raising environmental awareness; and providing information which will guide and influence governments and some industries to develop smart solutions to the marine debris problem.
Thousands of public school representatives joined forces to dig through the trash in Manila Bay for the program with its 33rd International Coastal Cleanup with every representative of public schools that are designated and assigned to pick up the same kind of trash that they are going to clean on. Mrs. Ginalyn Conopio, the representative of Cielito Zamora Senior High School was assigned to pick up plastic wrappers along the seaside.
The government agencies gathered kilos of trash that were built up on the seaside along Bay walk in Metro Manila starting 6 a.m. The Philippine Coast Guard, Armed Forces of the Philippines and Philippine National Police also participated in the cleanup with the presence of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority which was assisted in sorting and segregating the trash collected.
Over the years, the International Coastal Cleanup reached for over a million of volunteers around the world that goes beyond picking up trash and records each item collected on a standardized data
card in order to identify ways to eliminate ocean trash.
“Thanks to this organisation because it has become a beacon of hope , leading and inspiring action in support of our ocean.” Mrs. Conopio said.
